I love my Poppies!

Spring and summer bring flowers. Since this is our first year in our new home, it is fun to see what will bloom. We have been discovering all sorts of flower surprises. I was very excited to see these beautiful Poppies.

Realiztion

I took a quick trip to Green Bay last week. I had such a great time. Kids can sure help you realize some habits you have. I realized I put my hands on my hips A LOT. My nephew did a great jod mimicking me. I tried to catch him on camera. He was super cute and and was being funny when doing it.

Can you even believe what this room was before?

Man cave? With a womens's touch...

= Family Room

Well, this room is on it's way to being a living room. A few more finishing touches, and we'll be there.
Also, Thank you Everyone for the donated pieces. It really helped for this room to come together. We only had the art work and the brown chair. I think this room would have looked quite different otherwise.

Progress

There is always something that can be done in a home. The projects are never ending, and time just keeps moving along. (whether we get the projects done or not).

Luckily we are still slowly getting things done. I guess when I say we, in most instances I mean Roger, my hard working husband. I have a wonderful husband that painted our office while I was out of town visiting his sister.

I really like how the color turned out. I think with a few more accent pieces in the room it will really come together. I'm on a search for the right blinds or curtain. I would really love to get a white desk chair. I already know what art work I would like to hang, I just need to find the right frames.
Below, I finally took some pictures of the curtains in the living room. The color of the curtains in the picture doesn't quite match the true color. So you'll just have to come over, so I can show them off to you. They are more green than the gold tint displayed when photographed. Thank you everyone for your help in picking them out! I love em.

Finally we had carpeting put in out Family Room, and what a transformation this room has undergone. With the littlest of fixes, this has become a room I could stay awhile in. We painted everything, doors, trims, walls, cabinets, ceiling, and put in New carpeting. I dream that contemporary furniture would find it's home in here, but instead it will house a game room. A Foosball table, and a large TV for gaming systems and a few chairs will fill the space. What fun we'll have.

Um...

So, I thought... if Chrissy, who has her hand in a cast can keep up with her blogging, then I better get over my writer's block and blog. I decided I would write about our little ground hog friend living in our back yard. Since I have yet to capture the little guy on camera, I turned to the internet for a picture.

What in the world? That was what I was thinking. By the way this is a wambat and this is what wikipedia says about wambats. Humans that accidently find themselves in a affray with a wambat may find it best to scale a tree until the animal calms and leaves.

We are hanging up pictures and putting finishing touches into our home.
It feels great to be unpacking and moving in.

There are still things to be done but we are on our way.

On to New Things

Well, the last few months have been long and stressful. Luckily, in the last month of it all we had a safe and peaceful haven to go home to. The Klumb's (Roger's parents) opened their home to us. When they first agreed to let us stay, they thought we would only be there for a few days...maybe a week. Well, a week turned into a few weeks (ok a month and a week), but we finally were able to move into our own, newly renovated, home.

To fill everyone in on the details... Back in August we put an offer and a home (it needed lots of work to be called a home but it had four good walls and a roof). Due to a special renovation loan that required extra attention and work, compared to your normal loan, it took a few months before we closed on the home. On Nov. 6 we became home owners, and the work began. The contractors went to work. A number of delays later, we were given a final move in date. So we rented out our apartment and packed up. Only to discover the home was not ready and we had no where to go. This is where, so generously, both our parents offered to let us stay with them. (with only a couple of days notice) So we moved in with the Klumbs.

I have to admit, it turned out to be a really nice thing. We were ten minutes from my parents and able to see them for dinner, church and whatever; like shopping and lunch with my mom. Plus we had a nice loving home to return to when everything else was so stressful. I was able to take the time to grow and improve myself. With lots of help and encouragement from my parents and Roger's, I finally made a few new years resolutions other than getting the home completed. I am more capable in many ways and a much better me. Definitely more organized, but that is still a work in progress. So I left with a tear and my eye, but a smile on my face becasue I knew good things were yet to come.

I can't thank Our parents enough for the help the offered.

(and ps.. if the Klumbs see someone in their kitchen eating pickled beets, don't worry it's just me stopping in for a snack. Who would have thought you just had to pickle a beet to get me to eat them.)
